Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month Award for August

IMG_1854Goshen High School and Edward Jones are proud to announce the student-athlete of the month award to recognize athletic and academic excellence.  A senior male and female student-athlete will be selected from August – May each school year.  At the end of the year, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female student athlete of the month, as selected by the GHS head coaching staff.

The winners of the Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month Award for August are:

-Miranda Kay:  Miranda is the daughter of David and Jan Kay.  Miranda plays the “sweeper” position on defense for the girls soccer team who had a 6-1 record in August. She is the last player before the goalie. The team posted 3 shutout wins and allowed only 3 goals in their first 6 games. Miranda is undecided on her college and plans to major in Mathematics.

-Derick Hostetler: Derick is the son of Don and Cynthia Hostetler. Derick had a 7-2 record at #1 doubles and a 1-0 record at #2 singles for the 9-1 boys tennis team for the month of August.  Derick is undecided on his college and he plans to major in mechanical engineering and design.

The winners of the Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month Award for September are:

-Teage Minier:  Teage is the daughter of Kim and Chris Minier. Teage was named HM all NLC and was the lowest scoring individual qualifier from sectional to advance to regional. At regional, Teage shot a career best 82 to place 17th out of 103 golfers.

-John Trenshaw: John is the son of Sandi and Mike Trenshaw. John, in four games: 315 rushing yards and 6 yards/carry. Also had 5 yards receiving and 7 tackles made.
