On Thursday, February 12th at the Boys Basketball game against Wawasee there will be a ring ceremony during halftime of the Varsity game to honor the Boys Soccer State Championship team. The GHS Soccer team will also be honored by High School Sports Website MaxPreps and the Army National Guard during halftime for their Tour of Champions. This will be GYSO night and any child wearing their GYSO t-shirt will gain free admission to game for themselves and 1 adult. Any GYSO coach or board member who wears their coaching shirt will also gain free admission.
The NLC Wrestling tournament will be held this Saturday, January 24th at Goshen High School beginning at 9:00 AM. Ticket gates will open at 8:15 AM with the cost of $6.00 per ticket for Kindergarten through Adult. GHS All-Sport and Activity Passes will NOT be honored. NLC passes will be accepted. All spectators and teams must enter through Door M.
The JV & Varsity Girls Basketball game against Fairfield on Tuesday, January 27th will begin at 6:00 PM rather than the time listed in pocket calendars. This game will be held at Fairfield High School.

Goshen High School and Edward Jones are proud to announce the student-athlete of the month award to recognize athletic and academic excellence. A senior male and female student-athlete will be selected from August – May each school year. At the end of the year, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female student athlete of the month, as selected by the GHS head coaching staff.

Olivia Wenger: Olivia is the daughter of Curt & Sherry Wenger. Olivia is a senior on the Girls’ Swim team and consistently wins the 50 and 100 Free events. She is also a member of the school record holding 200 Medley Relay team and regularly winning 200 Free Relay. Olivia also serves as a team captain and has a GPA of 4.028. Olivia is also involved in NHS, is Vice President of the Student Council, and participated in Soccer for 3 years. She has received many honors while at GHS including Coaches Award, Hardest Worker Award, Scholar Athlete, and High Honor Roll. Olivia plans to go to college and major in Psychology and possibly Microbiology. She would also like to travel in college or study abroad and then later go to medical school to become a Psychiatrist.
Joel Byler: Joel is the son of Jon & Sherrie Byler. Joel is a senior on the Wrestling team and was also a part of the 2014 State Finalist Boys Cross Country team. During the month of December, Joel went 19-3 in wrestling placing 6th at the Al Smith Invitational which is the largest tournament in the state. He maintains a 4.115 GPA and also participates in Ultimate Frisbee and Cycling. Joel is a team captain for wrestling and received Academic All-State honors for both wrestling and cross country. He plans to go to college and get a degree.
The GHS Freshman Girls’ Basketball team has an addition to their schedule for this season. They will now play Concord on Saturday, January 17th at Concord High School starting at 9:00 AM.
The 9th grade boys basketball game scheduled to be played at W Noble HS for Monday, 1/12, has been canceled due to weather. The game will not be rescheduled.
The last home swim/dive meet in the current GHS swimming pool was scheduled for 9:30 AM on Saturday, 1/10/15. Due to cold AM wind chills and blowing snow, the start time has been moved to noon.
GHS is also hosting a 9th grade boys basketball tournament on Saturday that was scheduled to start at 9 AM. That start time has also been moved to noon.
With the construction of the new swimming pool on the GMS campus scheduled to be completed before the 15-16 swim season, this Saturday’s scheduled meet with Wawasee is likely the last home swim/dive meet in the history of this facility. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM for diving with swimming events starting at approximately 10:45 AM.
Thousands of GHS student-athletes have competed in this facility, Coach Bryan Rathke won 13 NLC championships and a record 61 consecutive dual meets while calling this facility home, and Coach Mark Schelbert directed one NLC championship team and a state runner-up team while calling this facility home. There are wonderful memories of this facility for many.

GHS winter sports teams can practice today from 2 – 5 PM today. Students should check with their coaches to confirm practice times, but here is the latest:
Wrestling at 2, cheer at 2, G bball at 3, B Bball at 3:30, swimming at 2 at GMS and Diving at 3:30 at GMS. All spring sport open gyms have been canceled. The 9th grade boys and girls basketball games and the wreslting match scheduled for this evening with Concord are tentatively still on. A final determination will be made this afternoon.
