On Saturday, December 3rd, the Boys Goshen Swim/Dive Relays will be held at the GCS Aquatic Center located at Goshen Middle School. Prior to the meet, there will be a ceremony to recognize the many contributions of Coach Bryan Rathke to Goshen Swimming & Diving. In honor of Coach Rathke, there will be an unveiling of a sign commemorating his accomplishments and service.
Gates will open at 9:15 AM with the first race at 10:00 AM. The Aquatic Center classroom will be available from 9:15 AM through the meet’s conclusion for alumni, family, and friends to gather to share memories of Coach Rathke.
Rathke served as GHS head boys swim/dive coach for 19 years and head girls swim/dive coach for 4 years. He was named NLC coach of the year 5 times, coached 6 undefeated teams, had 61 consecutive dual meet victories, and coached 13 NLC Championship teams and 7 IHSAA sectional championship teams. His overall record was 176 – 38! The ceremony will commence at 9:40 AM, prior to the first race.
The girls JV basketball game on Tuesday, 11/15 between Goshen and Mishawaka Marian will be a 6:15 PM JV start time, not 6 PM as originally listed on Goshen schedules.
There is a player/parent meeting for swim & dive, wrestling and boys basketball on Tuesday, November 15th at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium. All team members are expected to attend with a parent. There will be a Goshen Health representative available at the meeting to answer questions.
Boys and girls basketball season ticket sales will begin on Tuesday, November 15th at the girls basketball game versus Marian. All-sport tickets will also be available for purchase. Janet Johns will begin sales at 5:30 PM when the gates open. Basketball season tickets and all-sport tickets can also be purchased at the Athletic Office Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM-3:30 PM.

There will be a parent/player meeting for swim & dive, boys basketball and wrestling on Tuesday, November 15th at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium. All team members are expected to attend this meeting with a parent.
The Freshman Girls Basketball game scheduled for Thursday, January 26th against New Prairie has been cancelled.
On Saturday, December 3rd the Freshman Girls Basketball team will be competing against Concord. The game will be held at GHS at 11:15 AM. The game against Concord on Tuesday, December 20th is still on as previously scheduled.
The Goshen High School Fall Sports Awards night will be Monday, November 7th. This will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium including all fall athletic teams with individual team break-out sessions to follow. There will be cookies and juice available in the commons area after the individual team sessions.
Grace College and Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe welcomed student-athletes from the high schools of the Northern Lakes Conference for a Sportsmanship Summit on Monday.
Student-athletes from the NLC schools attended the summit (including 9 Goshen High School students), which was designed to educate student-athletes about sportsmanship and character training in athletics. Lenny Krebs, Goshen High School teacher and girls basketball head coach, spoke at the summit.
“We are pleased to be a part of building character at the high school level through the Sportsmanship Summit,” Briscoe said. “We hope it served as a great opportunity to educate and reinforce character education and to help promote the importance of sportsmanship for each student-athlete.”
Student-athletes from the NLC spent the day together working in groups to discuss and challenge one another in sportsmanship and character-building opportunities in the athletic realm. The students worked in team-building opportunities to promote camaraderie among the schools in the conference and create various mission statements for the NLC.
All fall senior athletes are to see Mr. Kissinger during lunch on Thursday, November 3rd for a special treat as a thank you for your hard work as a student athlete.
